We did a few things this week. Some of those things are when we reviewed force diagrams and motion diagrams. We also had homeworks that had the same kind of things. During the week we also had debates and went back and forth saying why we think something is this way and not that way. I personaly think that it was really fun. We should do them more often because alot of people like them. This week we also did a bunch of handouts for homework then we went over them in class which was good because I was confused but then when we went over it I got it.

This week i learned a bunch of new things that can and will help me when i get older and need to know these things. Some of the new things that i learned how to do is i learned how to make a force diagram and how to label it and see if there is an unbalenced force on it too. Another thing that i learned how to do is i learned how to figure out how a FScale works and then find the force of it by making a force diagram. We also did debates and there would be two people (Ben and Ellie and Sam and Laura) and we had to get into groups to figure out who was right and why. I personaly thought that that was really fun getting up and moving around is good during the class. I think it keeps people awake. And last week i forgot to blog but last week we got to push Mr. Segen's car outside and we all watched what happened to it after we gave it a push. I also thought that that was really fun too for the same reason as before.

November 23, 2009

This week in science, we did a lot of new things. Some of those things were finding out how to get to velocity and speed and how to put them into a motion diagram. We also had a partner quiz at the end of the week. During the week we also had a lot of word problems requiring us to figure out the speed, velocity, and change in time. We also found out what the velocity would be for a rolling marble on a slanted surface. We also learned how to find the change in position over the change of time in several graphs.

This week in science we did alot of cool tests and experiments and things like that. The first thing that we did was we wanted to see how fast a normal speed of someone walking would be. In order to find out how fast someone walks we neede to make a hypothesis and a prediction and creat a test then run the test and then we would record the results in our notebooks. Which we did. Then we did another expirement. That one was to see when and where to cars going head on would crash. To do this we needed to do the same thing we did for the other test. We needed to creat a prediction, hypothesis and a test. We didn't reall have enough time to acually do the test but we made a graph that shows when and where the to cars will crash. We also made a dot diagram to show the speed that they were going at. One of the cars was going faster then the other one. These are very important things to know about. like how to make graphs and diagrams go when we get to collage or get a job and need to know these things we will already know how.

OUR 3 DAY WEEK

We did not do alot this week because of we only ad 3 days but in that short period of time we did a few things. Some of the things that we did was learned what a Function is and how it works. We also learned how to figure out how to solve functions too. We also took a quiz (with a partner) and on that quiz we had to graph things and draw dot diagrams and things like that. We went over homwork and Mr. Segan made a fun activity for us. He put pics of graphs on the board and said which way is positive and whick way is negative and he had to figure out wat dance move it was that Micheal Jackson did. Well thats pretty much all we did in the past 3 days.

What we did in cience over the past week.

Over thepast week i was absent on monday but i was there for he rest of the week. During that time we made many diffrent types of graphs and many diffrent kinds of diagrams. One of the diagrams that we learned how to make is called a dot diagram. It has many diffrent kinds of dots. The dots stand for a speed of something. If the dots are close together then that means that the speed is slow but if the dots are far away then that means that the speed is fast, but if the ots are the normal not to far apart and not to close together then that means that the speed is staying the same. Example: ( . . . . . .) or ( . . . . . . .) or ( ...............)
We also learned how to create diffrent types of graphs and how they work. During the week we also did many hand outs for homework. They were all about how you make graphs and diffrent kinds of charts and things like that. For the graphs we learned how to make them curve and put the time and position on it too.

This week we did so many new and cool things. One of those things was that we all learned all about motion. When mr. s was walkinig with the ball in his hand, he doesnt think that the ball is moved because it never went out of his sight but when he was moving meaning so was the ball. Motion is Relative- something is being compared to something else. We also learned about what is better to know nort south east and west or left and right. The answer can be both beacuse it depends wht you are doing. If you are on a hike and need directions you should use North South East and West. But if you are drinving in a car and you are ost then you should know right and dleft is better to know. This week we also cut cow eyes open. It was gross at first but then after the gross part was over it was kind of cool. We saw the lense and the cornia and more things. We also did an experiment with a car and out hypothesize was that we think that the car will stay at the same speed. Our test was when we did our test it worked and we were right.

This week we did many things. One of those things would be learning what a "Normal line" is. A "Normal line" is a perpendicular to when the line of light meets. We also made our own rubrics on Ray diagrams and Wave diagrams. Then we had four pictures on the smart board and we had to tell what's wrong with each of then if anything was wrong. Then we learned about the angles. Which would be called : Angle os Refraction and Angle of Incedence. And after that we labled it on our drawing. We learned that when light hits a surface it sometimes reflects and sometimes refracts. It depends on the surface. We also learned about the human eye and how it works. There is the pupil and the lens and the cornia. We also learned about the Behavior of light and how light travels and what an element is and things about Nature of light. We also did this carnaval which was 6 ares and each one had a piece of paper that had something we had to solve. We got to work with our tables so it was kind of fun. And we also learned about how what would happen to a light if it hits air then glass, water, and then more air.

This week in science we put a green plastic ruler in a clear glass of water and wrote what we saw. What i wrote down was that when the ruler is ini the clear glass cup that is filled with water, the ruler gets larger in size. also when you put the ruler in the cup the water gets higher in the cup because it takes up a lot of room. Also since the glass cup is wide it makes the ruler look wide and longer then it really is. One of the diagrams is the light goes in all diffrent directions. This is because the glass didn't light up. Also when you put a ruler in a bucket which is clear the part that is in the water, its being destprted because the light but when the water hits the ruler the image is changed. That means its larger and wider.
This week we also learned about particles and waves. one thing they have inn common is that they both reflect things.
Well when you take a cup of water and point a laser at it some of the light will bounce off and some will just go through. We also learned about how light doesn't have any mass so it can't go all the way to the bottom of a cup. We learned about the wave model of light and the particle model of light.

9/28/09 to 10/2/09

This week we split up into groups and out hypothsis was diffrent refletctivity on diffrent objects. we did the tests on a wall, paper, cloth, metal, wood, water, glass, and a mirror. Our prediction was that we thought that it will reflect off transparent objects and not opaque objects. our results were
wall: 5 for brightness 5 for size 0 for reflected it was small when close and big when far
paper: 5 for brightness 3 for size 0 for reflected
cloth: 5 for brightness 3 for size 0 for reflected
wood: 5 for brightness 4 for size 2 and a half for reflected
glass: 4 for brightness 2 for size 5 for reflected
water: 5 for brightness and 3 for size and 0 for reflected
mirror: 5 for brightness 4 for size and 5 for reflected
metal: 4 for brightness and 5 for size and 5 for reflected
We also learned about angle of incidence and angle of reflection.
we learned what an analogy was and how to use them with science.

9/25/09

This week we did many diffrent things. Some of those things are:
-When the light from a light bulb is farther from a wall there is a glow but you can't really see a shape. And when we held the notebook you could see the shape.
-Also when we got a light buld and out hypothsis was that its letter A. (a light bulb with one line of rays going straight up in one direction) because its such a small whole and doesn't go in all diffrent directions. and out Exparment was to put a piecse of card bord and put a small whole in it and put the cardbord on the light bulb and see if there is a whole on the wall. Our conclushoin was that we got A. because we put out hand real close to the cardbord and there was a large whole and as we were taking our hand farther away that same dot starts to fade and get real small.
I also learned that if u have a light bulb and turn it on there are rays that shine everywhere and the rays hit an object (like a marker) and then the rays bounce off f that object into all diffrent directions, not just into out eyes.
Another thing i learned that is very important to life/science is that if you are in a room that is completly pitch black with no light at all that your eyes will never adjust and you won't be able to see anything.
These things are always good to know for example of one of these things in real life is that i you are a person who likes to camp in caves and it gets real dark and its pitch black and you think that your eyes will adjust its just good to know they won't and don't have to waist time if you think that they do.

In science this week i learned many things. Some of those things are how a red dot from a laser gets to a solid object like a wall. Another thing that i learnedthis wekk in science is how light works. When i saw that i learned how light works i mean like how light hits an object and then the light from that bounces everywhere. One of the experemens that me and my partner did was we had a ligth bulb and a noteboook and we turned the ligtht bulb on then the notebook was like a afoot away and then we made a dot on the light bulb and our hypothsis was that if there is a dot on the bulb that there would be a shodow of the dot on the notebook. But it did not work. The point of this was that we thought that there was many rays of light coming off of the bulb in many diffrent direction and if we put a dot on then and we didn't see a shodow of the dot on the notebook then we were wrong. And we were but thats okay because we learned new thinigs.
The dot on the wall was really fun and i think i learned alot. What i learned about it is that if you have a laser and point it to a solid object then you will be able to see a dot on that object. But the real question was how does the dot get to the wall. So me and my partner came up with a hypothsis which was that there is a little path that it takes to the wall. Our expirment was to clap erasers togetrher and the chalk would make the path apear because of the dust/chalk particles.
And the path apperaed and our expairiment worked!
All of the things that we did this week were reallly importat because its always good to know this kind of things for next year and for the rest of my life.
